CFRE Ambassador

I was recently informed that I’ve been selected as a 2026 CFRE Ambassador.

Out of the more than 8,200 CFREs in the world, they chose fewer than 300 across five continents.

The Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification is an internationally recognized, voluntary credential that supports a fundraiser’s professional growth and commitment to the philanthropic sector.

As a CFRE Ambassador, I’ll work with CFRE International staff to champion CFRE certification within the fundraising profession, share accurate and timely information about CFRE certification, and mentor future CFREs.

I’ve been a CFRE since 2001, and the exam process has changed a bit since I first took it, but I know the advantages of being certified and have mentored others through the exam preparation in recent years.

My goal in serving as an Ambassador this year is to be a resource and guide for anyone interested in learning more about the CFRE process and why it may be a good path for them.

👉 The advice I offer here is: If you are in the nonprofit sector and you have the opportunity and qualifications, go ahead and take the exam. Having a CFRE may not have an influence in everything you do, but it may be the deciding factor in some of the job interviews and projects you take on.

It also is a great reminder of the fact that working in the nonprofit sector IS a profession and one with high standards.
