Haunted (a Sonnet)

The wind whipped through the clouds the other night
and stirred up all the passion in her soul.
She braced herself, for in the distant light
she saw a form – a shape not fully whole.

Emitting vibrant waves of heat, he walked –
No, flew – towards her bravely hidden shell
of silk and paper. Singing in the wind, he talked
of meadows green and rivers in the dell.

She watched his hands as he described a vast
and wond’rous world beyond her sheltered eyes.
His hands were slender and express the past
and future. Kisses brushed away all lies.

The night flew quickly and when she awoke,
she saw their dancing auras in the smoke.
